Pedagogical Profile

The department provides education at the three levels of university study:

The 1st level program: Industrial Engineering and Management.
The 2nd level program: Industrial Engineering and Management.
The 3rd level program: Industrial Engineering and Management.

Profile of the Graduate

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) gains basic knowledge, mainly from the sphere of technical disciplines and natural science, enterprise management, production and information technologies, enterprise logistics, organization of auxiliary and service operation and of their economic relationship.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) graduates are able to professionally investigate tasks from the sphere of technology, organisation and development, mainly at the middle-management level of a production enterprise. They are able to coordinate solution of complex problems concerning logistics and supply chain management, production logistics and optimization of inventory, material flow, implementation of enterprise-wide information systems, production planning and control, quality management, design of production processes and system, innovation management, introduction of industrial engineering methods into individual departments, computer modelling of enterprise processes, project management, application of operation researcher methods and similar.

Study Abroad

Students have the opportunity to study at foreign universities in Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic and other countries. Students and scientists from Czech Republic, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Great Britain and Austria have taken educational stays at the department, over the recent years.

Scientific Profile

Research Projects:

The department continuously investigates research tasks concerning basic, as well as applied research. These include VEGA, KEGA, APVT projects, state projects, but also projects of applied research, oriented mainly onto following areas:

• the digital factory concept, design of systems and processes using the virtual reality and simulation,
• integrated systems of production enterprise control,
• new techniques from the sphere of enterprise logistics,
• management of quality, program Six Sigma,
• Lean Production programs,
• modelling of production processes,
• humanization of work and work measurement,
• dynamic control of workshop production.

Specialized Workplaces:

• digital factory laboratory,
• laboratory of virtual reality,
• laboratory of automation,
• laboratory of ergonomics,
• laboratory of intelligent systems,
• laboratory of 3D design of production processes.

The department has a unique software pack supporting the digital factory concept – software DELMIA, which is also used in automotive industry.

Cooperation with Industry

Department has a long-term partnership with Slovak and Czech enterprises from various industries, such as mechanical engineering industry, electrical engineering industry, automotive, rubber and food industry.
Considering cooperation with enterprises, the department participates on systemic changes in the sphere concerning improvement of production, operative and administrative enterprise processes, using the most up-to-date approaches and software solutions from the sphere of industrial engineering.
