Department of Power Engineering is a modern scientific center with a long tradition with research and educational activities. The main mission of the department is to educate students and conduct research in the field of energy machinery and equipment with a focus on reducing energy consumption, optimizing energy consumption, waste heat utilization, fluid flow optimization, simulation of thermal phenomena, renewable energy sources, heat source optimization, economical use of thermal energy, energy audits, heating design, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.

As part of pedagogical activities, the Department of Power Engineering currently provides teaching of subjects in three study programs:

  • Energy and Environmental Engineering (Bc.)
  • Environmental Engineering (Ing.)
  • Energy Machinery and Equipment (PhD.)

Teaching and research is carried out in completely renovated premises (classrooms, laboratories) and is provided with the modern measuring and computing hardware and software from renowned manufacturers (Ahlborn, Yokogawa, Omega, Fisher, ABB, Teccora, Ipecon, Leco, Star, HP, Ansys , Caepipe, Techcon and others). At the department, we have a nonlinear multiphysical program ANSYS Fluent, which includes structural and thermodynamic analysis, continuum flow analysis, analysis of electrostatic and electromagnetic fields and acoustic analysis.

The department also cooperates with domestic and foreign companies, for which it carries out expert activities in various areas.

The energy sector is currently crucial, because it makes it possible to develop the country's economy and industry, but also to ensure the necessary energy flow for the day-to-day operation of facilities in buildings. Research and innovation can improve equipment efficiency and discover new solutions to the problems that arise in the energy sector.
